This is an extremely safety conscious industry where standards for electrical equipment in Australia are extremely high. As a consequence the materials of construction demanded by the components are equally high. The range of polyamides, polycarbonates, ABS/PC alloys, modified PPE and vinyls manufactured and supplied by Marplex are excellent. A long list of approvals has been secured over a number of years.
As a local compounder of engineering polymers, Marplex can meet the critical colour tolerances demanded by electrical component manufacturers. Iupilon® polycarbonate and AstaloyT ABS/PC are highly recommended as materials of choice for electrical switchplates. Less demanding decorative plates has used AstalacT ABS for the high gloss and chemical resistance.
The newly introduced Astavin™ vinyl compounds offering inherent flame retardancy and UV resistance are ideal for housing three phase industrial components and for conduit and junction box manufacture. Small run colours of rigid vinyl are a specialty to Marplex.
For internal electrical componentry where heat distortion is critical it is suggested that the Vydyne® glass filled Polyamide 66 and Iupiace® glass filled PPE are the most suited.
