A vast array of applications in this market segment has used polymers supplied by Marplex. High gloss, critically coloured Astalac™ ABS has been the material of choice for bathroom fittings while flexible Santoprene® thermoplastic vulcanate is used for window seals.
High UV demands in the Australian outdoors has seen the strong development of Astalac™ ASA into aesthetically pleasing side panels for evaporative coolers and roof top vents. The newly developed SAS compounds have further enhance the weatheribility of the Astalac™ ASA range.
Santoprene® thermoplastic vulcanate is highly regarded as the material of choice in high rise buildings due to its ability to retain shape and flexibility over an extensive period of time. It has also been widely used in flexible extrusions and injection moulded grommets for roof and flue sealing. Marplex has recently developed a flame retardant FlexiteQ™ thermoplastic compound that complies with the exacting requirements of Australian Standard AS1530.
The laundry trough and shower base moulded from Iupital® acetal is quite possibly the largest moulding of its kind from acetal in the world. Iupital® acetal was chosen for the hardness, chemical resistance and good abrasion properties.
