Because Marplex has maintained and developed strong technical service and product development teams, it has been able to customise engineering plastics to suit unique requirements of the Australian automotive industry. Specially formulated and coloured polymers and alloys are supplied for almost all automotive applications.
Marplex has a wide range of products formally approved for use by custom moulders to the automotive industry, and is itself ISO9001 accredited and has Ford Q1 approval.
Marplex has developed and supplied polymers such as ABS, ABS/PC alloy, Polycarbonate, Acrylic, Polyamide 6, Polyamide 66 and Polyacetal for internal, external and under bonnet applications. From colour critical, aesthetically pleasing interior trim components such as speaker grilles and door handles to mechanically demanding wheel trims and metal replacement components such as engine covers.
New polymers recently introduced to he market by Marplex have included a thermoplastic elastomer and AstalacT ASA.
The thermoplastic elastomer from Kraiburg is a SEBS (Styrene-Ethylene-Butylene-Styrene) is widely recognised and used by European car manufacturers including BMW, VW, Mercedes and Opel. The use of TPE's in cars is increasing rapidly as component manufacturers look to maximise efficiencies and minimise post mould assembly.
Astalac T ASA has been developed locally using technology and feedstock from Mitsubishi Rayon. Astalac T ASA offers enhanced weathering properties making it unnecessary to paint parts. The newly developed ASA materials have taken weatherable polymers into a new dimension.
